Monsoons at Mmmmmmumbai!!

It has been pouring nonstop since 36 hours in Mumbai.I have never seen a rain like this in my life.

There is no power,no public transport,no Newspaper,no milk,no vegetables ....and the list is endless. Yesterday it took me 2 hours to travel 7 km from my office. Guess what ??? today I'm in only one in our ZONE.... and the ZONE I stay can accomodate 200 people ;).
But I should admit that I'm enjoying this. My office has a typical Manufacturing industry look with those asbestos sheets as the ceiling. It feels nice to be aware of the outside environment while working.I can see daylight through our French windows .Its quite thrilling and relaxing to hear the rain on the roof, while I break my head writing/debugging programs.

Gajra Re Gajra Re

I have heard this song "Gajra re Gajra re" from Bunty aur Bubbly atleast 15 times and everytime I hear, I feel the music and rhythm has just been picked up from some old hindi/ sanskrit bhajan !!
Ha ha ha ha...Its quite interesting to see that the cycle is repeating and we have started copying music of 1940's

Movies Devdas, Anniyan

I watched 2 movies last week.
1.Devdas (Hindi)
2.Anniyan (Tamil)

About Devdas, the only thing that I liked in the movie was Madhuri
Dixit's performance.Otherwise, the movie didn't make an impression at
all.

Anniyan is upto the mark.Vikram's performance was excellent.Picturization of the songs are good.Shankar seems to have spent 30 Crores on this movie.He has taken proper care in projecting a typical traditional "Iyyengar" family.Thyagaraja Aaraadhanai at Thiruvaiyyaru is truly realistic .The top hit in the movie is Vivek's comedy !! - 1000 times better than the traditional Senthil, Koundamani,Vadivelu comedy.

Talking of the theme of the movie, this is "Indian" - PART 2., where the hero punishes those who break the rules.The punishment is based on "Garuda Puranam" - an Hindu philosphy that defines the punishment at HELL ("Narakam") based on the individual's bad deeds on earth.

Can watch the movie once !!

Su Doku An Amazing game

Today's topic is on the number game Su Doku. Apparently this is an ancient Japanese game (Su means "number/digits" and Doku means "singular").This game has a square grid of 9 rows X 9 columns ( which inturn has 9 3X3 blocks).Numbers have to be placed in the grids in such a manner that each row, column and 3X3 grid contains unique numbers ( 1 to 9).Replication of any digit is not allowed.Each puzzle has one and only solution.

Though this game deals with numbers, this deals purely with logical and analytical skills.It enhances a persons lateral thinking and creativity.
I have been solving this puzzle for the past 1 month and it really honed my lateral thinking skills.

Some of my learnings are:

1.Look out for the solution beyond the scope of the problem.
2.Never overlook those hints which are not so popular.They actually show the easiest path for the solution.
3.Keep trying until the solution is arrived at. for all you know every problem definitely has a solution.
This is really an interesting game.Try your hand on it.

My favorite raaag

My favorite raag in Indian classical music is "Mohanam". Rather I would say that "Mohanam" was the first raag that I learnt to identify by pattern matching. Believe me -I am a non techie as far as Carnatic music is concerned.I dont know to identify a raag by notes. But the thrill I get when I relate to some music by pattern matching is really amazing....Its like a discovery !!!!
